To the city below Marjan one gets by highway from Zagreb in 3,5 – 4 hours or by main road from Rijeka in about 5 hours. It is also possible to reach Split through coast ship routes from Rijeka or Dubrovnik, from all the islands, as from the neighbouring Italy whose cities are well connected with fast ferryboats to Split. The airport Split connects the city to Zagreb several times a day, as well as with the european capitals. From Split to the north of the country and further in Europe one can travel also with the railroad with or without cars.
The location: the city and port in the Middle Dalmatia, located on the peninsula between the Gulf of Kaštela and the Channel of Split. To the west of the peninsula the hill Marjan rises up, and to the east and north-east the city is protected with Kozjak and Mosor.
